Best Life Transition:
Experiencing life from a perspective of powerlessness and lack of control, to one of empowerment and self-determination.
When I discovered I had the power to control how I viewed the world, my life and all my experiences, it opened up an infinite of possibilities and a whole new universe for me. And it wasn’t just about ‘being positive,’ but instead about searching for the balance that exists in all things. THAT was the most liberating discovery I had made.
Most Challenging Life Transition:
Going from a primarily social sensory stimulation drive to an introspective and altruistic soul-focused drive. More importantly, finding the balance between the two.
The most healthy approach to life is one of balanced self-interest and selflessness. Operating in an unbalanced state of either narcissistic or altruistic drives is nearly impossible to maintain complete growth and fulfillment. The human species has thrived as a result of nurturing both our individualistic and social natures. The same is true for us throughout life–we have maximal growth and fulfillment when we care for ourselves and others equally.
Best Advice You Received During a Life Transition:
Don’t worry–you can’t mess up.
No matter what happens in life, it is an opportunity to learn love. We attract experiences meant to teach us love, particularly toward that which we think we don’t, or can’t, love. When we love all aspects of an experience, both the ‘good’ and the ‘bad,’ we transcend that experience and grow. It doesn’t matter what choices we make (except for determining our next path), there will be opportunities to learn love. You can’t f@#& up the opportunity to learn love. The biggest perceived mistakes lead to the biggest opportunities for enlightenment, no matter how unpopular that notion.
Most Important Lesson Learned from a Life Transition:
You can’t mess up.
Every decision I’ve made in the past (and believe me there have been some doozies) has led me to where I am today. How can I say I am grateful if I can’t be grateful for the mistakes I’ve made? You can’t mess up; you can only resist learning…and even THAT has its blessings.
Best Way to Think about Life Transitions:
Inevitable evolutionary life experiences on our path to learning love (or the simplified version: Quit bitching–it’ll all be over soon).
Life is about growth and learning the self. We pass through certain stages with common and shared transition points. No matter how hard you try, you can’t stop evolution. If all experiences exist to teach us love, then we keep reliving the same ones over and over again until we learn to love them in their entirety. Only then can we transition to the next stage.
What Makes Life Transitions Easier for You:
Being in touch with my life’s purpose and vision, and focusing on that.
